About WSSOMS

Welcome to the official website of the Washington State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (WSSOMS).

We are a non-profit professional organization formed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

Our purpose is to:

  • Contribute to the public welfare by advancement of the profession of dentistry, and in particular the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

  • Foster programs of education, research, standards of practice, and scientific investigation in the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery and

  • Provide among its members opportunities for social and professional community.

As a state component of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), we strive to meet and exceed the standards set forth by AAOMS and duly represent the profession in Washington state. WSSOMS members are graduates of accredited dental and medical schools who have completed an accredited residency training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, are licensed to practice in Washington, and who limit their practice exclusively to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Active members must participate in the Society’s Office Anesthesia Evaluation Program as a precondition to membership and renew every five years thereafter, maintaining our high standards of outpatient anesthesia practice.
